This site seems like a great idea, but without some conventions to guide it, it will be chaos, and the data created will be practically unusable. For example, for Altium:
Footprints should be named by the IPC guidelines. Schematic symbols should be named according to some defined convention, and should contain the following user parameters at a minimum:
MFG PN, Alt MFG1, Alt MFG1 PN, DIST, DIST PN, DNP, MFG, REACH, ROHS, TESTED
Schematic pins should be placed on a grid of 10.
Footprints should be created according to IPC guildelines, with the following additional mechanical layers:
Mechanical 13 (M13) Top layer component body information (3D models and mechanical outlines, paired with M14).
Mechanical 14 (M14) Bottom layer component body information (3D models and mechanical outlines, paired with M13).
Mechanical 15 (M15) Top layer courtyard and assembly information (paired with M16). This normally includes a cross-hairs at the origin of the component.
Mechanical 16 (M16) Bottom layer courtyard and assembly information (paired with M15). This normally includes a cross-hairs at the origin of the component.

I second petefrey. There needs to be some strict standardisation, which quality control can build off. Instead of subjectively "approving" a part, the community can judge it against the standards document. Otherwise, this site will be as useful as dad's bag of old nails

Hi @petefrey.
Thanks for the great feedback. We are working improving our exports to work better natively for all of the applications we export to, and this includes Altium export.
We'll announce it on via our newsletter once it is ready. In the meantime, please keep the feedback coming. You can either post questions here, or email me directly at garret@snapeda.com.

I completely agree. We do have guidelines internally, and we are working on refining them and publishing them so that they are more transparent to the community. We will keep everyone in the loop here in terms of our progress on that front. Thank you for the great suggestion.

Hi All, we have posted the first version of our standards here: https://snapeda.com/standards/.
Would love feedback on this early version.
Thanks,
